COLLEGE STATION, Texas, January 7, 2011 - Performance Racing Industry Magazine’s January 2011 issue features the Texas World Speedway racetrack profile. Senior Editor Karen Zurvalec with PRI Magazine tells the story of the track from its historic roots to its current bustling motorsport operations in the following article:
Texas World Speedway, located on 375 acres a few miles south of College Station, Texas, is arguably the busiest grassroots race track in the United States. Yet it doesn’t run a single sanctioned race all year long.
Instead, the track is busy with weekend events run by local car clubs and sanctioning bodies such as SCCA, Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing (CVAR), and the National Auto Sport Association (NASA). During the week, the track is booked for private testing by professional teams using the track to test their latest combinations, or by car manufacturers testing their latest products and equipment. In addition, the track hosts a Performance Driving School, a Teen Survival Driving Academy, and a corporate team-building program.
Historic Texas World Speedway is the crown jewel for grassroots motorsports entertainment in the southwest United States,” said track president Bill Mather. “Our TWS team serves our guests with friendly professionalism, and the best way to say it is we support the professional motorsports industry as a test track. That’s what we do.”
