Texas World Speedway Supports Team In Training To Raise Funds for Lifesaving Cancer Research
April 2, 2009 – TWS recently sponsored Team In Training participant, Misty Moody, a 27-year survivor of leukemia in her efforts to raise funds for blood cancer research and patient assistance programs. Misty is participating in the Nashville Country Music Marathon on behalf of Team In Training, a fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
TNT, the world’s first, biggest and best sports training program, provides four to five months of certified coaching, a supportive group of teammates and clinics on nutrition, gear and injury prevention, to help you complete a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, century ride or hike adventure. TNT has prepared more than 389,000 participants, from novices to accomplished endurance racers, since its inception in 1988. In that time, TNT participants have raised more than $950 million to support LLS’s blood cancer research and patient services initiatives.
In efforts to help with fundraising, Team In Training recently held a Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction at Open City in Downtown Houston. Bachelors and Bachelorette's lined up and one by one were introduced and marketed their package donated by the different Vendors. Amongst these vendors, were TWS, Lakeside Country Club, Escalantes, Tasting room wine bar, Galveston deep sea fishing get away, Chipolte, Houston Zoo, Woodlands Country Club, and Max’s Wine Dive.
At the end of the night when all was said and done, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society raised $5000. One day at a time we are finding ways to fund research and raise awareness so that blood cancer becomes a thing of the past!
